At B Local Georgia, our mission has always been about building a community where business is a force for good. None of this would be possible without the visionary leadership of our founder, Nathan A. Stuck — a champion for purposeful business, passionate connector, and unwavering believer in the power of companies using business as a force for good.Nicknamed The Social Impact Guy, Nathan's "why" is simple yet powerful: he believes that business can and should drive positive change. His journey began with a desire to challenge the status quo, to prove that companies could be successful and have a lasting, positive impact on society. Nathan’s commitment to cultivating purpose-driven workplaces and empowering leaders to align profit with purpose has been the foundation of B Local Georgia’s success.
Throughout his career, Nathan has emphasized that profit and purpose are not mutually exclusive — they are deeply intertwined. His social impact consulting business, Profitable Purpose Consulting, helps companies do well by doing good, designing social impact strategies that resonate with employees and customers.
You can see Nathan's passion in action through his writing, speaking, and hands-on leadership. He’s published thoughtful insights on using business as a force for good on platforms like Medium and LinkedIn, where he regularly challenges businesses to rethink what success truly means. He has also uplifted the stories of so many of our stakeholders through our podcast, B The Change Georgia, which explores everything from the importance of stakeholder governance to the personal leadership journeys that make transformative impact possible.

In March 2023, Nathan took his message even further with his TEDx talk, "Reimagining Capitalism Through Purpose, With Purpose, & On Purpose", where he eloquently laid out a future vision for capitalism — one that lifts up all stakeholders, not just shareholders. His talk is a call to action for leaders everywhere: to be bold, be intentional, and to use their businesses as engines of positive change.

Today, Nathan continues to lead B Local Georgia with the same energy and enthusiasm that first sparked its creation back in 2018. He remains deeply committed to fostering community among Georgia’s B Corps and expanding the reach of the “Business For Good” movement across the region through his annual conference, BLD Southeast.
Nathan’s story reminds us that purposeful leadership isn't just good for business — it's essential for building a better future. We’re grateful for his vision, his courage, and his tireless efforts to inspire change.
Goodr: A Certified B Corp Revolutionizing Food Access in Georgia
9-2-2025

At B Local Georgia, we celebrate businesses that not only excel in their industries but also prioritize social and environmental impact. One such standout is Atlanta-based Goodr, a Certified B Corporation since April 2019 (bcorporation.net). Founded by social entrepreneur Jasmine Crowe-Houston, Goodr is on a mission to eliminate food waste and combat hunger through innovative technology and logistics solutions.
From Vision to Impact
Jasmine Crowe-Houston's journey began with a simple yet profound realization: hunger is not an issue of scarcity, it's a matter of logistics. In her compelling TED Talk, "What We're Getting Wrong in the Fight to End Hunger," she challenges conventional approaches to food insecurity and advocates for systemic change.
Since its inception in 2017, Goodr has redirected surplus food from businesses to communities in need, serving over 32 million meals through its Food Waste and Hunger Solutions (hypepotamus.com). Their tech-enabled platform allows businesses to track and donate excess food efficiently, reducing waste and providing tax benefits.
Expanding Access Through Grocery Initiatives
Goodr’s innovative approach extends beyond food recovery. In partnership with local governments and organizations, they have launched free grocery stores to serve underserved communities.
Notably, the Goodr Community Market at iVillage @ MLK in Atlanta uses repurposed shipping containers to provide groceries and essential items to over 300 families monthly (clichemag.com).

Additionally, in July 2025 Goodr launched the Goodr Community Market on Edgewood in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood, a community long designated a food desert. The store now serves 100 households each month with completely free groceries, while also offering subsidized groceries to all and as well as a deli providing prepared food that’s equally convenient to ultra-processed convenience stores yet much healthier and cheaper. This model proves how municipalities can expand food access in underserved areas without spending millions on subsidies to large grocery chains.
A Model for Sustainable Change
Goodr exemplifies the power of combining business acumen with social responsibility. Their B Corp certification reflects a commitment to transparency, accountability, and positive impact.
By transforming surplus food into a valuable resource for communities, Goodr not only reduces environmental waste but also fosters greater food security. As they continue to expand their reach, Goodr serves as an inspiring model for how businesses can drive real, meaningful change.

B Community & Commitment: Looking Ahead to 2025
1-8-2025
Happy New Year!
For starters, we want to thank you for another great year. 2024 will forever be remembered as the year that we not only crossed the threshold of 30 B Corps, but also as the year we hosted BLD Southeast. Over four magical days in September, we hosted 250 attendees from 30 states and three countries, giving us the opportunity to spotlight some of the places and people that make our “good business” community so special.

A hit panel from BLD Southeast, “If You’re Here For The Work, There’s A Seat At The Table” featured B Local Georgia board member Jamal Lewis (3rd-Right) and spoke to the unique culture of Atlanta’s changemaking leaders. Photo credit: Chat with Leaders Media.
But as the calendar turns over to a new year, we’re excited for all that we have in store in 2025. We’re launching some bold new programming, have another great calendar of events, and will look to grow our board and our community this year. And after a December of strategic planning, including our annual board retreat, we’re excited to share our plans and welcome you to join us once again!
New Programming
After years of planning, we’re finally planning to launch our Student Fellowship pilot. In what we’re hoping can be copied by other B Locals, the program’s tentative structure will kickoff with a summer project in collaboration with B Academics’ B Impact Teams program, followed by a Fall internship with a local B Corp, and a Spring capstone project of planning an intrauniversity student Good Business event.
Another Year of Great Events
Like every year, we have another full calendar this year that will include events in both Atlanta and Athens. Thanks to our Volunteer Chair, Chad Livsey, we’ll once again be hosting quarterly volunteer days in both cities, kicking off in Atlanta on MLK Day, and with the next one in Athens on February 8th. And we kick off our networking calendar on April 15 at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs. We invite you to save the dates below and join us for as many of the events as possible!

More events will be added as the year progresses.
Want to collaborate on an event with us? Let us know!
Growing Community & Committing to Impact
2024 was the year we finally hit 30 B Corps in the state of Georgia. And we plan to continue that growth in 2025, with a firm commitment to continuing our intentional efforts to build a diverse and inclusive community of companies, and a good business ecosystem that works for everyone throughout the state.
In 2025, we hope to not only hit 40 B Corps, but also to extend our reach outside of our two core hubs, Atlanta and Athens. We’re waiting for our first Augusta B Corp to finish their final verification, and then hope to begin building a community there. We’re also hoping to spend more time in Savannah, Columbus, and Macon.
To achieve all of this, we need you at events, we need you spreading the word, and we need your help. And that’s why, at the end of 2024, we launched our first ever capital campaign, hoping to raise $100,000 to support more regional programming, additional certification cohorts that can kickstart those communities, and more frequent events in our existing hubs.
To learn more, you can check out our announcement on our website. And to donate, you can visit our fundraising page. All donations are tax deductible.
Onward Together
We look forward to seeing all of you in 2025 and continuing to build this community together!

Read MoreB Local Georgia Looks To Scale Its Impact, Launches Capital Campaign
12-5-2024
B Local Georgia has announced its first ever capital campaign, seeking to raise $30,000 to support an expansion of their events, certification offerings, and volunteer outings. After six years of bootstrapping and surviving on a small operating budget, the nonprofit organization is ready to scale its impact and footprint across the state of Georgia. “This campaign is incredibly important to us as we enter 2025,” explained their Board Chair, Nathan Stuck. He continued, “We’ve brought on some new board members that have challenged us to dream bigger and do more, and we have some really big plans and objectives for the new year, but those are going to require a bigger budget.”
Big Plans
Student Fellowship Launch
Among those big plans Stuck mentioned is a new Student Fellowship program that has been in the works for several years now. The program will not only work to expand our academic footprint in the state but will give students at our HBCUs and PBIs the opportunity to host B Corp 101s, attend the annual BLD Southeast conference, intern at a B Corp, and plan quarterly inter-university student gatherings.
Certification Stipends & Support Across Georgia
B Local Georgia is also looking to grow the B Corp community across the state by providing small businesses with the resources they need to certify. Whether it’s helping them pay for consulting help or cover their certification fees, we plan to offer regional certification cohorts around the state, with their eyes set on Columbus, Macon, and Savannah.
Increased Events
In addition to hosting BLD Southeast in 2024, B Local Georgia was able to host three networking events that featured dinner, drinks, and a panel of experts. And while we were able to increase the number of volunteer outings, we want to double the number of networking events hosted in 2025 from three to six.

With your support, we’ll be able to continue to host more events, like this collaborative July cleanup with The Chad Livsey Project in Castleberry Hill.
Executive Director
B Local Georgia was started in 2018 by Nathan Stuck. Since then, he made the organization an official “project” of Social Good Fund, a 501c3 fiscal sponsor. And Stuck has paid the fees and done a lot of our heavy lifting, annually donating 200-300 hours of volunteer time as a hybrid Board Chair and Unpaid Executive Director. With this capital campaign, we’re hoping to allocate a small salary to support Stuck’s work as E.D. and hold board elections for a new Board Chair.

Will you support us?
Our mission is to uplift and support the journey of mission-driven entrepreneurs, businesses, and students across Georgia. With your support, we can give more to our community of B Corps and purpose driven businesses.
You can give at any amount, but we hope you’ll consider joining us at one of these levels, with monthly payments available to help with budgeting:
- Visionary: $10,000 ($833/month)
- Champion: $5,000 ($417/month)
- Uplifter: $2,500 ($208/month)
- Supporter: $1,000 ($83/month)
- Administrative: $348 (Cover our administrative costs for $29/month)
- You're The Best: Any amount
B Local Georgia Adopts a Highway!
10-1-2021

Through a partnership with Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB), B Local Georgia is the proud adopter of a long neglected stretch of road in the Classic City. Located on Athens’ eastside between Winterville Rd and Hancock Industrial Way, Hancock Road was one of several unadopted stretches of highway in Georgia’s sixth largest city.
B Local Georgia’s founder, Nathan Stuck, played a large role in the move to get involved in one of our most active communities. A local resident and board member of KACCB, Stuck explained that “neglect begets neglect, and the longer the litter and debris remain uncollected and unsightly, the more it invites others to litter, compounding the problem.”
And given Athens’ importance and involvement with B Local Georgia, it was a no-brainer to get involved. B Local Georgia board member Jake Mosley, director of student affairs with UGA’s Full-Time MBA program, and one of the architects of the new B Collaborative experiential learning program at UGA, was at the first cleanup last month and plans to attend more of them. “I can’t help not be involved,” he told us. “Athens has been so important to me and B Local Georgia has been so helpful for our students pursuing social entrepreneurship and sustainability, it was just the perfect opportunity to give back.”
The first cleanup was held March 20th and had everyone from B Corp™ owners like Luis Imery, of Imery Group, to employees and UGA students and even those pursuing their own B Corp™ certification, like Katherine Shayne, founder and CEO of Athens-based Can I Recycle This. “Everything this cleanup is about is what I am about, both personally and as a business owner,” Shayne stated. And she, like Jake and Nathan, is already looking forward to the next one.
Are you as fired up as we are? If you’d like to be a part of the next cleanup, check out our calendar page for upcoming events (including trash pickups) and follow us on LinkedIn.

3-6-2021

As the new year quickly approaches summer, we’re excited to announce that we’re actively planning in-person events as it becomes clear (knock on every piece of wood in the house) that we’re going to be back to normal sometime this summer. That being said, we also recognize how convenient virtual programming was for a vast majority of us. Here is just some of what we have planned for 2021.
- March 31st: The Brand Sandwich. Hear from three industry experts as they facilitate a workshop about the importance of aligning brand, communication, and culture.
- Early May: UGA B Collaborative Project Presentations
- June/July: DeKalb (Clarkston/Decatur) County Event We’re heading down to DeKalb County to celebrate our return to the wild as see everyone in person. Of course, we’ll have speakers and all the in-person networking you can handle.
- August: Start-Up Scale-Up: Join us as benefits experts break down what to expect as you grow, how to budget for benefits, and why you need to be thinking about them now.
- October 21st: BLD SOUTHEAST! This year’s version will remain virtual to give more people the opportunity to attend. Don’t worry, we’re using the same networking platform and we’ll have three inspiring groups of speakers for you to meet and learn from.
- Some Point in the Fall: UGA/Athens Event: For those of you who have joined us in the past, this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some of the best that Athens to offer, hear from some amazing changemakers in the Classic City, and network with like-minded students from UGA. Our 2019 event started at Cine, was catered by The National, and continued across the street at Creature Comfort’s beautiful taproom. And as always, we’ll work to secure some discounted rooms with our friends at Hotel Indigo Athens.
Continue to Build a Regional Community of Good: Oh, how we love this word. We’re firm believers in the magical powers of intentional networking and community building. Our main objective this year is to continue the momentum we somehow made in a year when we were all so isolated. We’re collaborating with our BLD counterparts on shared content and another awesome BLD Southeast. We’re also actively partnering with other business-mission nonprofits to amplify all of our voices.
Expand our Academic Footprint: While the University of Georgia continues to lead the way with its B Collaborative, run out of their Full-Time MBA program, 2020 has already seen B Corp™ projects pop up in other places. The Consult Your Community Clubs at Georgia Tech and Emory both took on spring projects, while the Triple Impact Consulting Club at UGA took on two projects as well, bringing our spring count to nine projects. In addition, 2020 marked the arrival of noted B Academic Dr. Garima Sharma to Georgia State University, where she serves as the Director of the BIS in Social Entrepreneurship program. If you work or study at a college or university in Georgia and would like to get involved, please let us know!
Continue to Advocate for Business as a Force for Good: And lastly, we’re not going anywhere. If you haven’t been paying attention over the past 10-15 years, this whole B Corp™ movement, and the greater CSR movement, is shifting society to a better place. We believe it is our place, as business leaders, and now more than ever, to use our collective voices to call for a capitalism that works for everyone, no matter race, religion, or gender, and a capitalism that works for the long term, for our planet and for the generations after us.
Are you as fired up as we are? If you’d like to get involved, get in touch with us. Our board members are always happy to talk B Corps™ and how you can get involved.
Read MoreB Corp™ Makes AdVic a Better Company
2-12-2021

AdVic’s B Corp™ journey began five years ago, in a conference room on the fourth floor of Correll Hall at the University of Georgia. Powered by four eager MBA students and a vision for our growing company, AdVic embarked on a journey to pursue both profit and purpose. As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having fun. And after initially certifying in 2018 as a result of that student project, we’re excited to announce that we have met all the requirements and have officially recertified as a B Corp™.
The 5 Reasons We Recertified
Required every three years by B Lab™, the nonprofit organization that oversees the certification and standards, recertification can be difficult for scaling companies. In the past three years, we’ve gone from 25 local employees to over 100 spread out across the country. But we’ve managed to maintain our purpose as we’ve scaled, a testament to the value of certification.
So to celebrate our commitment to being a business force for good, here are five reasons AdVic recertified, and why you should too:
1. B Corp™ got us here and has made us better.
Our certification empowered us to begin tracking important, non-revenue related numbers and KPIs, holding ourselves accountable to steady improvements and progress. When we initially certified, we were, like most technology companies, comprised of almost three-quarters white males. By the end of 2020, we were reduced that number to 51%, a direct result of setting goals and testing solutions, like the wording of job descriptions and the locations we recruited.
Simply put, B Corp™ establishes a high bar and sense of responsibility. It keeps us honest when evaluating our business and helps us continually iterate and improve, even as we scale.
2. B Corp™ will continue to make us better.
“We do not have all the answers and we won’t claim to be experts. We are on a journey that starts with transparency and continues with action and dialogue. We invite you to come along.“
We love that quote from the equality module of Salesforce’s Equality, Diversity, & Inclusion trailhead. As a B Corp™, we know the journey is never done. As we continue to scale and grow, new problems will arise, both internally and externally, that will require creative, mission-driven, and purposeful solutions. We’re fully committed to self-reflection, measuring what matters, and becoming a better version of ourselves. And we’re excited for the progress we’ll make and the updates we’ll have when we recertify in 2024.
3. AdVic wants to be a leader in this movement, an example for all that a purpose-driven organization can turn a healthy profit, and scale.
The late American economist and statistician, Milton Friedman, argued that businesses exist solely to serve their shareholders–to maximize profits. Milton Friedman’s arguments made sense, in 1960. They don’t any longer. At some point, this argument led capitalism astray. AdVic is proud to be a part of a growing example of businesses existing to make money in a manner that benefits all: stakeholder (workers, clients, communities you operate in, etc.) capitalism.
Since starting the B Corp™ process, we’ve gone from a scrappy eight-employee startup to employing over 100 full-time employees. We’ve grown revenue every year since our founding, while also growing our impact on our employees and the communities we serve. Stakeholder capitalism is indeed alive and well–and here to stay.
4. It’s an awesome community!
Nothing beats the Bs. To say the B Corp™ community is welcoming is an understatement. We’ve yet to meet a B Corp™ that isn’t willing to invest some time in our journey. They share lessons, they share pitfalls to avoid, they share their blueprints to success.
As we move from a community of newcomers to seasoned veterans, we’re excited to pay it forward and continue our work helping companies certify and find their footing once they get there.
5. We see the value, but we’re in it for the right reasons.
Ask any B Corp™ business owner, there is one question that makes us all cringe, “What’s the ROI on it?” Have we landed amazing employees that found us because we are a B Corp™? Yes. Have we gotten a client or two because we are a B Corp™? Yes. Does it create a ton of natural marketing content that enhances and aligns our brand and culture? 100%, yes. But we wouldn’t say we have quantified the ROI on it.
We believe in doing business the right way and being a place people are proud to work. We believe in serving our community. We believe in creating change through purchasing policies, hiring practices, and first-class benefit packages. We believe that B Corps™ can be a catalyst for change and that’s why we recertified as a B Corp™.
If you’re as fired up as we are, we invite you to join us and the greater movement of almost 4,000 businesses worldwide working and serving as a force for good. And whether it’s advice, answers, or assistance, we’re happy to help you get there. Feel free to contact us.
Georgia B Corps™ Giving Back on the Farm
2-15-2020

Two Atlanta based B Corps™ combined forces for a great cause in the month of February. Located in metro Atlanta, or ITP as we say in Georgia, Truly Living Well Farm proudly serves its city by “growing food, growing people, and growing community.”
While looking for opportunities to get the Ad Victoriam Solutions team out in the community in 2021, their Director of Culture and Strategic Impact, Nathan Stuck, stumbled across a catchy calling for volunteers on the Hands on Atlanta website: “Come Get Dirty, and Have Fun on an Urban Farm!”
Stuck, who also serves as the Chair of B Local Georgia, immediately spread the word to the other B Corps™. The first morning he was signed up, he was joined by Diane Peoples, VP of Marketing at fellow Alpharetta based B Corp™ Decisely. The two had such a rewarding time, Nathan digging holes and planting trees and Diane moving two enormous piles of mulch, that they quickly started organizing events with their teams. Throughout the month of February, Ad Victoriam employees volunteered on three different occasions. Decisely held a company volunteer event at the end of February, braving the dreary weather to pull weeds and help get the farm ready for spring planting.
As certified B Corps™, both companies have giving back built into their DNA. As Decisely’s CEO Kevin Dunn told us, “we’re a firm believer in business being used as a force for good, for both our communities and our employees. It’s rewarding to know that we can get our team together on a day like today and share this experience together.”
