At B Local Georgia, we celebrate businesses that not only excel in their industries but also prioritize social and environmental impact. One such standout is Atlanta-based Goodr, a Certified B Corporation since April 2019 (bcorporation.net). Founded by social entrepreneur Jasmine Crowe-Houston, Goodr is on a mission to eliminate food waste and combat hunger through innovative technology and logistics solutions.
From Vision to Impact
Jasmine Crowe-Houston’s journey began with a simple yet profound realization: hunger is not an issue of scarcity, it’s a matter of logistics. In her compelling TED Talk, “What We’re Getting Wrong in the Fight to End Hunger,” she challenges conventional approaches to food insecurity and advocates for systemic change.
Since its inception in 2017, Goodr has redirected surplus food from businesses to communities in need, serving over 32 million meals through its Food Waste and Hunger Solutions (hypepotamus.com). Their tech-enabled platform allows businesses to track and donate excess food efficiently, reducing waste and providing tax benefits.
Expanding Access Through Grocery Initiatives
Goodr’s innovative approach extends beyond food recovery. In partnership with local governments and organizations, they have launched free grocery stores to serve underserved communities.
Notably, the Goodr Community Market at iVillage @ MLK in Atlanta uses repurposed shipping containers to provide groceries and essential items to over 300 families monthly (clichemag.com).

Additionally, in July 2025 Goodr launched the Goodr Community Market on Edgewood in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood, a community long designated a food desert. The store now serves 100 households each month with completely free groceries, while also offering subsidized groceries to all and as well as a deli providing prepared food that’s equally convenient to ultra-processed convenience stores yet much healthier and cheaper. This model proves how municipalities can expand food access in underserved areas without spending millions on subsidies to large grocery chains.
A Model for Sustainable Change
Goodr exemplifies the power of combining business acumen with social responsibility. Their B Corp certification reflects a commitment to transparency, accountability, and positive impact.
By transforming surplus food into a valuable resource for communities, Goodr not only reduces environmental waste but also fosters greater food security. As they continue to expand their reach, Goodr serves as an inspiring model for how businesses can drive real, meaningful change.
